Synopsis:
After a speed-dating show that is literally out of this world, twelve young astronauts are set to become the first humans to colonise Mars. They are also the victims of the cruellest of plots.
Léonor thought she was a pioneer on an extraordinary mission. She thought she had left all regrets behind her on Earth. But when memories are this painful, there can be no forgetting . .
Review:
Let’s say, I like this book very very much. It has one of the most beautiful covers ever! Look at that view. The Main Character Léonor with her red hair, in space in such a pose, like she is giving herself to the space. In the back, we see Mars, almost the same color as her hair. It’s one of my favourite covers.
The story, just like the first book in the series, is still very intriguing. Now (almost) all the cards are on the table. Almost all the secrets. You know there are more, but which ones? I absolutely adore the inside structure of the book. I mean, there are all these drawings on how the base on Mars looks, how they are going to land on Mars. There are also these tables with the numbers of there budget and so on. Also little drawings for advertisement for the Genesis Program in the story. Those adds are maybe a bit useless tho.
I still like the characters. Well, some of the Characters. Most of them are very cringy, also with their language. What they say. It’s not how we talk( too formal or so) and the cringy flirting. but I understand, they only know each other for a year and in that year they only saw each other for maybe an hour in total before the marriage. Still, it was sometimes annoying. Also it was annoying how some characters were suddenly angry or too naïve.
I really like that there ale multiple perspectives. two or so on earth, and one in space. We know what’s going on on both sides.
But after all, I still like where the story is going and I will read the third book aswell. This is a series of four, but the fourth one isn’t translated yet in English or Dutch (my language). After this plottwist, I’m very curious what the group of friends is going to do.
